Procedures

D.O.C. Organization Incorporated, supports four areas of development in specialty and sub-specialty surgery: Ear Nose Throat (ENT), which includes Head & Neck & Craniofacial Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive, General, Vascular Surgery and Urology.

The project changes the way fundamental surgical skills are exchanged and administered. It also creates the foundation for research into surgical skills and acquisition and innovation in technology. Local surgeons will get hands-on practice with specialist in their field in local hospitals throughout the islands.

DOC is committed to delivering efficient, exemplary surgical health care services by consistently providing excellence in the following areas:

Scope of Practice

Ear Nose Throat (ENT)
Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery

This specialty deals with the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired disease(s) of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck region. It also deals with the diagnosis and medical surgical treatment of cosmetic deformities in the head and neck region.

The sub-specialty of Craniofacial Surgery deals with the surgical management of skeleton deformity of the facial region, as well as the surgical resection of benign and malignant diseases of the head and neck and base of skull.

Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Plastic Surgery is a field divided into Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery. It is the reconstructive surgical element that D.O.C. will be promoting.

Reconstructive Surgery involves the repair of parts of the body that have been deformed by birth defects, trauma or acquired disease. Examples of birth defects are cleft lip and palate, protruding and prominent ears, birth defects of the hands (syndactyle), and feet.

Reconstructive also involves the restoration of deformities caused by traumatic events e.g., acute burns, disfiguring burn scars, scars from motor vehicle accidents, and other acts of trauma. Disfiguring surgical procedures for cancer for example head and neck cancer and breast cancer can also be reconstructed using plastic surgical techniques.

The aim of Reconstructive Surgery is therefore to restore form and function.
