Dr. McCalla graduated from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in 1982. He received his training in General Surgery at Harlem Hospital Center.
Dr. McCalla has been practicing General Surgery in the state of New York for ten years.
His interests include Breast Cancer screening as it affects the minority population. Dr. McCalla is actively involved in developing breast cancer outreach initiatives for residents of South Bronx community. He is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and has completed training on Breast Ultrasound, Lymphatic Mapping and Sentinel Node Biopsy, and Cultural Competency Training on Breast and Cervical Cancer in Asian Pacific Islander American Women.
Dr. McCalla joined the D.O.C. medical team in 2003. He lives in New York with his wife and three children.
