Evening Address Delivered by Sophia Johnson at Doctors On Call's Reception, Kingston, JA
Good evening.
I would like to thank you all for embracing the vision and mission of Doctors On Call. Together, we are increasing access to general reconstructive surgery in the Caribbean.
(Pause)
In June of the year 2000, Dr. Norman Morrison, Dr. Orville Palmer and I drafted a proposal to increase access to essential surgical care. Today, with just about 20 volunteers, and community partners like you, we have been able to deliver service, education and training to over 500 people.
We have increased supplies, trained medical professionals, expanded outreach initiatives and upgraded equipment to the tune of about $550,000 (over 30-million Jamaican dollars). And for that, we thank you, because our success, is indeed your success!

Tonight, we celebrate partnerships, by acknowledging the extraordinary support of seven community partners in the private and public sector. Thank you.
